Ragunan Zoo is a zoo located in the area Ragunan, Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta, Indonesia. An area of 140 hectares, the zoo was founded in 1864. Inside, there are various collection consisting of 295 species and 4040 specimens.
Ragunan was closed for about three weeks since September 19, 2005 because the animals in it are infected with bird flu, but reopened on October 11. [Edit] History
Ragunan Zoo was the first zoo in Indonesia. The zoo was founded in 1864 under the name En Dierentuin Planten which means "Garden of Plants and Animals." Located on 10 hectares of land in the region Cikini, Central Jakarta, which is the provision of a famous Indonesian painter Raden Saleh. At that time, Planten En Dierentuin Compassionate Society is managed by Flora and Fauna Batavia joined in Culturule Vereniging en Planten Dierentuin at Batavia. [1]
In 1949, the name was changed to Planten En Dierentuin Cikini Zoo and in 1969 moved to the area Ragunan, Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta in 1964. Government of the land area of 30 hectares menghibahkan which became home to the zoo. Jakarta Governor Ali Sadikin Ragunan Wildlife Park inaugurated on June 22, 1966. [Edit] References

To reach this place, if you do not use a personal vehicle, you can use TransJakarta (busway) majoring Ragunan Brass-ended right in front of the zoo, or if you do not directly use these majors, you can advance to the transit stop to Dukuh Top then uses this path. So with the cost of USD 3500, - you can go Ragunan easily and quickly.
This zoo entrance ticket you can buy for USD 4000, - for adults and Rp 3000, - for the children. Animals that had been here quite complete as a variety of avian (bird pelicans, peacocks, eagles, and others), various primates (monkeys, proboscis monkey, and others), various kinds of snakes, sun bears, elephants, deer, camels, kudanil, bison, bat. For wild animals, you can see tigers, white tigers, lions, crocodiles, bears. Besides seeing the animals, you can also invite your child to play in the children's playground, where there are a variety of different games and games from the balloon.
At the zoo there is also "Schmutzer Primate Center." You should purchase a ticket for Rp 5,000, - to enter the venue. This place is special to display different kinds of primates with a different atmosphere and there is a museum of primates, to gain knowledge of children. This place is made to resemble the atmosphere of Bali. There is also a playground for children like swings, which can climb trees, dangling on a rope or play sand.
If you plan to this place, should bring an adequate supply of drinking water, because to see the animals and the other one you must walk. Provide also a hat or umbrella to protect from the sun. So, for a holiday does not mean having to spend lots of money.
